Were you guys around when The Lighthouse was on Walnut? Went out of business quickly. Many suspected it had to do with the obvious Christian nature of the venture.

While I know the Core is not a business, you might consider losing the word "Fellowship" on your front window, much like you've done on the website. If you want to engage the culture, it may be best to stay stealthy. They (the culture) are increasingly suspicious of all things "christian."

I was around when the Lighthouse came and went. I don't care if it was Christian or not... it was cheesey. It looked like Long John Silver's opened up a coffeehouse. And their overhead was clearly too high--big building, paid employees.

I know some people will see us as a Christian Coffeehouse. That's not what we are, but it's unavoidable. Hopefully as people experience us, they will gain a better understanding. But as far as Christian coffeehouses go... I plan to try to learn a lot from the Potter's House. They have been going strong for many years.

You know...I was never really committed to having the word "Fellowship" on the window. I think it's best left off.

Although look at it this way... Originally The Core Fellowship was just called "The Core". The word Fellowship was added when we finally got around to incorporating, and we needed an official name. I think "The Core Fellowship" is perfect as our official name, but to our friends we're simply "The Core".
