12/16/06 - First Anniversary of The Core Blog
Although it seems cheesy to me now, I still think the flagship post (Round 1: The Core vs. The Edge) laid a good foundation for the coming year of blogging.
Out of these last 40 posts, here are a few of my favorites, which have tended not to get a lot of comments. I've learned that this is the case for most bloggers' personal favorites. Enjoy!
Radical Grace (April 11)
The Parachute (August 27)
TV, Duct Tape, Churchaholism and a Puppy (September 20)
Do-It-Yourself Attack Ad Kit (October 19)
And here are a few of the most popular blogs I've written, judging by the number of comments I know that's not really a reliable criterion, but it at least measures how much discussion was generated, which is really my primary motivation anyway.
Man-Shaped God (March 31) - 45 comments
Part 3: Ancient-Future Church (February 19) - 43 comments
3 Promises (June 2) - 30 comments
Roe v. Wade, Love v. Power (September 28) - 30 comments
So thanks again, and keep reading! If you want to be on The Core e-mail list, just e-mail me.
Have a happy Khanukah (Jesus celebrated it,) and a merry Christmas!

1 Comments:
I just read the first Web Log of 12-21-2005: “The Core vs. The Edge”. (Last December I did not know about the Core Blog.)
It was an excellent comment to lanuch the Blog and lay a strong foundation for the Core Fellowship.
What comes to mind is the following:
“Man cannot live on Bread alone, but from every Word that procedes from the mouth of the Lord.”
A new phrase relative to the first Web Log:
Men and Women cannot live on the hype of “Techno. audio ~ visual Flash” alone, rather we truly LIVE by getting to the Core of every Word that procedes from the mouth of God.
I realize that getting to the core is easier said than done, but that is what God created us for – to get to ‘His’ Almighty Core.
I might add that the competitive element of one church trying to out-do another church (with the hype) is a waste of time, energy and money...
…But, for young Believers in Christ, maybe it takes a little flash from time to time, I don’t know.
When I think of “flash” (or “the edge”) I think of something much more traditional and historic. I think of Saint Peter’s Bascilica in Rome. Though the “Holy See” is an Arch Villian of Christ and the Messianic Age, Saint Peter’s Cathedral is an amazing structure and Inspires in and of itself.
In my opinion this is the order of importance for inspiration and understanding God & Christ:
1) The anointed Word of God, the Holy Scriptures. Also considering the writings that are not cannonical, such as the Apocrypha and the Gospels which were not included, are also important.
Asking the Holy Spirit for Divine understanding helps us understand God, regardless of what we are reading.
2) Music. The song “Oh Holy Night” inspires me no matter how often I hear it.
3) Art and Architecture, dedicated to God, is sometimes the ‘edge’ that people need.
